In the third quarter of 2023, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) reported revenue of $17.28 billion, down 10.8% year-over-year due to a cyclical slowdown in global semiconductor demand. Net income was $6.96 billion, reflecting resilient margins of 40%. Revenue from 3-nanometer chips, the industry’s most advanced process, accounted for 6% of total revenue, with 5nm and 7nm nodes contributing 37% and 16%, respectively. TSMC’s leadership in advanced process nodes, serving clients like Apple, NVIDIA, and AMD, supports its 50%+ share of the global foundry market, with $70 billion in capex planned through 2025 to expand U.S. and Japan facilities.
